Over 1200 young football-mad boys, with ages ranging from seven to 15, are gearing up to participating in Luton Town Football Club’s much anticipated end of season event, The Hatters Cup, the biggest national tournament of its kind in the UK.
Pictons, is sponsoring The Hatters Cup this year, which will see over 120 six-a-side football teams from schools and clubs across the country play for the coveted Hatters Cup trophies in each age group. It’s a weekend of footballing passion for both the players and their proud parents, many of whom crowd the LTFC stands to cheer on their beloved Hatters.
This year Pictons has decided to go one step further and is also sponsoring an exciting Penalty Kings competition, with all of the teams taking part.
Sukh Saini, a Partner at Pictons says “ We are already sponsors of Luton Town Football Club, but when the opportunity came up to support The Hatters Cup we readily agreed. As a company we are very committed to supporting the local community, and The Hatters Cup is a fantastic competition for both the young people who take part and their parents who come to cheer them on. We chose to add the sponsorship of a Penalty Kings Shoot Out competition because it gives every single team a chance to win something special for their school or club team.”
The penalty shoot outs, organised by the charity fundraiser Penalty Kings, will take place between 11.00am -1.00pm during the two days of the competition. Stefan Muzsnyai, who founded Penalty Kings says “We are inviting all of the teams to nominate their own Penalty King. They will be joined by the team coach and a ‘fan’, be that dad, mum, brother or sister. The young player, the coach and the fan will then make up each Penalty King team. The top goal scorers, in the eight different age categories, will win a brand new football signed by the players of Luton Town Football Club, plus a generous equipment voucher from Pictons for their school or club. Pictons are also giving the coach on the winning team a great new bench jacket and the fan will win a bottle of wine to help them celebrate their victory.”
Concludes David Hoskins, Luton Town Football Club’s Commercial Manager. “The Hatters Cup is always one of the highlights of our football season and many of our first team players come along to support the young people and award the trophies. We are genuinely on the lookout for the stars of tomorrow and every year we find at least 2 or 3 three players with exceptional potential. It is such an exciting weekend for everyone. Pictons have been very generous this year, by not only sponsoring The Hatters Cup but also offering to host a Penalty Shoot Out, which all the players absolutely love. It gives every team a chance to win something special.”
The Hatters Cup will take place at LTFC’s football ground in Kenilworth Road, Luton, on the weekend of May 14th and 15th .
