Contract and Consumer Disputes

Contractual agreements or “contracts” may be written or verbal, and are made between private individuals, companies and other organisations. Disputes involving contracts are amongst the most common types of claim to pass through the courts.

Disputes may focus on whether there was ever a legally binding contract in place, or on whether the terms of the contract (whether express or implied) have been breached in some way. Where there has been a breach, there may be further disagreement over what is an appropriate remedy.

Where one party to a contract is a consumer, there are also additional statutory provisions in place to ensure that the consumer is treated fairly. Nevertheless, there are times when you need professional help to achieve a satisfactory solution to a dispute.

At Pictons, we take a thorough but pragmatic approach to contractual and consumer disputes. We work hard to ensure that you fully understand the strengths and weaknesses of your case; and where possible, we use our experience in negotiation and mediation to achieve a settlement without the need for costly court action.
