How do I pay for your services?
1. Legal Expense Insurance
Your motor insurance or house and contents insurance policy may include cover for your legal costs if you have to make a claim for personal injuries.
Your credit card, bank account or private health insurance policy may also include cover for legal costs.
If you think that you may have legal expenses insurance you should tell us and we shall advise you and contact your insurer.
2. Conditional Fee (no win no fee) Agreement (CFA)
Under a CFA you pay nothing if your claim is unsuccessful.
If your claim is successful, you will recover your legal costs, as well as your compensation, from your opponent.
We will advise you whether you should take out insurance to cover you against the risk of paying any costs if your claim is not successful.
We will ensure that you have the best insurance available, at no risk or additional cost to you.
If you wish one of our team members to contact you, please complete our ONLINE CLAIM FORM.
3. Public Funding
Public funding (or Legal Aid) is generally no longer available for personal injury cases.
However, it is still available for certain claims.
We will advise you should you be able to fund your claim this way.
4. Private funding
We can take your case on a privately funded basis.
However, this means that you will pay for our services (whether you win or lose) and if you lose your claim you will have to pay your opponents costs as well as your own.
How do I know if I have a claim?
Each case is different.
We will assess your claim, gain a clearer understanding of your circumstances and advise you accordingly.
At Pictons we do not take on every claim; there are cases that we will have to turn down if we believe that the prospects of success are too low.
If you think you may have a claim and wish one of our team members to contact you, please complete our ONLINE CLAIM FORM.
Do I have to visit you at your offices?
No. Everything can be dealt with by post, telephone or email if you wish.
However, if it is possible we would like to hold at least one meeting with you.
Our experience is that it is often more effective to meet our clients face to face.
If you have been seriously injured and you cannot travel we will always consider meeting you at your home.
How will you keep in contact with me?
The most important thing is that we will need to work with you as part of a team.
We aim to keep things clear, simple and as straightforward as possible so there is no need for you to worry at any point about the legal complexities or technicalities of your case.
You will be kept informed throughout the whole claim's process.
Do I have to see a doctor?
This depends on the type and nature of your claim.
In most cases involving injury it is necessary for us to obtain copies of your medical records.
We will instruct a medical specialist appropriate to your injury.
